Water-soluble cationic polymer has a wide range of applications, and DMDAAC polymer is one of the best. This is not only because of its high efficiency, non-toxic, high positive charge density, but also because of its low cost. From the current international market, the price of PDMDAAC is 1~3 times lower than that of other cationic polymers, so it shows broad application prospects. Since the 1950s, foreign researchers have carried out a lot of research on its monomer synthesis and purification, polymerization mode, polymerization kinetics and mechanism, the relationship between polymer structure and molecular weight and product performance, and have achieved large-scale industrial production. The domestic research began in the 1980s. Although it has achieved industrialization, it is small in scale, low in output and narrow in application. At present, it is mainly used in the field of oil exploitation. In order to make it more widely used in China and give full play to its advantages of multi-function and low price, the author puts forward the following suggestions for future research work:
(1) A new process for preparing DMDAAC polymer was studied. Find new synthetic process from polymerization mode, initiator, polymerization assistant, etc., so as to improve the average molecular weight of the product; Products with different molecular weights and suitable for different application objects can be synthesized by controlling the process conditions. When synthesizing copolymers, attention should be paid to the relationship between molecular weight and cationic degree, and the stability and water solubility of products should not be affected by copolymerization.
(2) Study the action mechanism of DMDAAC polymer and expand its application performance. The relationship between polymer structure and product performance is found by studying the interaction mechanism between groups in homopolymer and copolymer and other substances; Then we should pay attention to how to improve the structure to expand and improve the application performance of the product.
(3) Further carry out applied research. As a new type of water-soluble cationic polymer, the ultimate purpose of research and development of DMDAAC polymer is its application. Therefore, we should give full play to the characteristics of DMDAAC polymer, such as high positive charge density, high efficiency and non-toxicity, and carry out research on optimizing the synthesis process, finding the best use conditions of the product and compatibility with other chemical agents, so as to make the new product developed have better effect, lower cost and wider application.
